Hurstwic members provide demonstrations and presentations at museums, universities, schools, historical societies, and other cultural institutions. A short video explaining our mission may be seen on YouTube here. Our Viking Age arms and armor demonstration was described in a news story by Chris Bergeron that appeared in the MetroWest Daily News on May 28, 2006. The story can be downloaded here (1MB pdf). A promotional video for our demonstration at Higgins Armory Museum is here on YouTube. We also offer Viking combat training at Higgins Armory Museum, and at other venues. Currently scheduled public appearances include:
Normally, we present a live demonstration of Viking-age fighting moves on the 3rd (and where applicable, 5th) Saturday of each month at 2PM at Higgins Armory Museum, part of the regular Weekend at Higgins program. Occasionally, scheduling changes prevent us from offering a demonstration, in which case we offer a presentation on Viking age weapons, instead.
Photos from some Hurstwic events can be seen in the Hurstwic photo album. More recently, we have been creating public photo albums on Facebook, including an older album and a newer album of Hurstwic Viking combat training, as well as albums of specialized training for groups, for team-building, and for friends of Hurstwic.
